A classical vanitas still life translated into contemporary photography, depicitng a black marble base with white marble claws supports an antique book of knowledge. A chipmunk, more curious about food, and a squirrel, intrigued by death, sit alongside a nest with two eggs and a pomegranate—symbols of curiosity for life and sex.

Ferry van Tongeren and Jaap Sinke met in 1994 while working as advertising creatives at Ogilvy & Mather in Amsterdam. Since 2013, they've collaborated on fine art under the name; Darwin, Sinke & van Tongeren. Placing the name of Charles Darwin before their own is a tribute to the great naturalist and geologist.
